Features, screenshots

CFinder was developed for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X platforms. The core of the program, finding the cliques and communities, was written in C++. The graphical user interface was written in Java.

Please see below for a list of screenshots and explanations.

Open new network:
Open the list of protein-protein interactions in the DIP yeast core interaction data set. Data source: Database of Interacting Proteins.

Open communities,
select directory containing data previously computed by CFinder:

The main CFinder window with the dialog for selecting the directory containing the cliques, communities, etc. identified in a previous run of CFinder.

Communities:
The four communities of the protein Pwp2p in the DIP "yeast core" protein-protein interaction network at k=4 are colored brown, blue, magenta and green. The proteins Krr1p, Pwp2p and Sik1p are colored red, because they participate in more than one of the displayed communities, i.e., they are the overlaps between the communities. Enlarged on the top are two special buttons enabling the navigation between the original network (a part of which is displayed) and the web of its modules.

Graph of communities:
A part of the graph of communities in the DIP yeast core data set. Two communities are connected, if they share at least one node in the original graph and the width of a link between two communities is proportional to the number of nodes they have in common. Shown are the communities (k=4) within a distance of 4 from community no. 40.

Statistics:
Statistics of the communities in the "cond-mat small" collaboration network or researchers at k=4. Cumulative distribution of community size, community degree, vertex membership, and community-community overlap. Data source: arXiv.org/cond-mat. Community size: number of nodes in a community. Community degree: number of other communities overlapping with a selected community. Community-community overlap: number of nodes contained by two overlapping communities. Node membership number: number of communities containing the selected node.

Display settings:
Select Tools > Settings to modify a wide variety of display properties in the graph visualization panel of CFinder.
